When people ask me, are you a Christian, I usually say “No”, and that I do not identify with any religion right now, and they often wonder why!
No, I am not an Atheist if you are thinking it. Yes, I studied Philosophy, No, I am not an ATHEIST because a lot of people automatically assume if you study Philosophy then you do not believe in the existence of God!
I have been intrigued and curious about nature and humans since my younger years. I also always wanted to study Business Administration for reasons I did not know, I did not even know what the course was about so when it was time to process my university admissions, I had to pick up the Jamb Brochure, and in this brochure were descriptions of what each course entailed. I went through every course in the book and got more intrigued by Philosophy, I was Wowed, that course felt like it was designed for me, so I opted in.
I do believe in the metaphysical, I believe in the Laws of Nature, look around you, our very existence is by design. I believe in the power of my “Orí”. I would also love to learn more about the concept of “Ifá” which I find fascinating.
So, do I believe in God; YES. Do I believe in the “Church” as a place to worship God; ABSOLUTELY NOT. I grew up Catholic and in our household, my Mom ensured Church was compulsory for us as Children so she made sure we went every Sunday. As adults, though, she pleads with us to consider being a churchgoer again, but I always tell her, I would rather spend my Sunday in a research center than in a Church.
Why do we have so many churches in Nigeria, when what we need are research centers?
I understand God is Genderless, but you can’t convince me otherwise, God is definitely, FEMALE too!
