Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday was my birthday!

I have never used to celebrate my birthdays or look forward to them for years. In our household, I was the last to have a birthday every year, and everyone usually remembered at around 5.00 pm, I was also inwardly upset at the lack of thought on their part, at times I even had to remind everyone it was my birthday. Considering I never forget theirs and always go out of my way to get a small gift or small cake, or even ensure I wish them a happy birthday, think how pissed I was that mine was always forgotten.

I should note that they no longer forget my birthday in my household anymore by the way, just in case you are thinking it.

This changed a few years back and I started to look forward to my birthdays and gave myself a small nice treat on that day. I grew out of being pissed, wish them a happy birthday on theirs, and celebrate with myself on mine.

This year was different though, it is as though the universe aligns with my feelings and thoughts in a way I cannot describe, nevertheless, I will always be grateful for the air I breathe, and the life I have. This year, I barely thought about my upcoming birthday and was disinterested in thinking about my special day, I felt no excitement about the day. I did make myself a nice meal of Tuwo and Egusi soup which I enjoyed very much.

I have made peace with many things that bordered on my personal life, and I feel free, free of the thought of getting worked up over matters beyond my control that always spiked my blood pressure.

So, at the end of my beautiful day, because it was a beautiful day for me despite the lack of excitement, I got myself a small cake to end my day! I am and will always be grateful to my small inner circle of friends and family who always have my back, and uplift me with their words and I cherish and appreciate them forever and always! Thank you, Boos, and a Happy 38th Birthday to me!

Whatever my future holds, I am happy and good to go!
