It was a dear friend’s birthday yesterday, and while composing my birthday wishes for her, I decided to revisit old photos from events I have hosted over the years to get some photos of her to accompany her trip down memory lane.
While viewing those albums, I was reminded of the vibrant energy and passion I once poured into my endeavors. It’s easy to become so engrossed in family and work responsibilities that we lose sight of our personal aspirations and the skills we have cultivated.
This introspection led me to ponder: What am I currently tolerating that I shouldn’t be? It’s a question that challenges us to identify and address the subtle compromises we have made over time.
Often, we accept mediocrity, negative self-talk, or draining relationships because they creep in gradually, becoming the “new normal” (Sahil Bloom)1.
But here is the truth: What you tolerate will continue. If you permit these compromises to persist, they will shape your reality. It’s essential to confront them, set boundaries, and reclaim your narrative (Amy Young)2.
As I reflect on my journey, I recognize the importance of revisiting our past, not to dwell, but to gain clarity and direction. Our history holds valuable lessons and reminders of our potential. By acknowledging what we have tolerated and making conscious choices to do better, we pave the way for a future aligned with our true selves.
So, I ask you: What are you currently tolerating that you shouldn’t be? It’s time to reflect, reassess, and take intentional steps towards the life you deserve.
