Do you remember how I cried my eyes out because I was unable to attend WordCamp Europe in 2019?
Well, 6 years later, I found myself at WordCamp Europe in Basel, Switzerland. It was nostalgic to say the least, I had an absolutely amazing time, and the highlight for me was getting to meet in person a lot of people I have communicated with behind a keyboard for years.

And no, while I did not take a lot of pictures at this event, I am grateful to myself for knowing I revelled in the moment, meeting these wonderful people: Samah, Rocio, Michelle, Dan, Courtney, Fotis, Olga, Taco, Birgit, Mary, Juan, Sumit, Nicole, Robert, Hamza, Promise and moreeeee. I can go on and on, the names would be endless, trust me. While in Basel, I stayed at Silo Design & Boutique Hostel Basel, about a 15-minute walk to the Congress Centre where the event was held. I highly recommend this place if you are travelling in and around Basel, the staff were absolutely helpful, and the space was large.
Perhaps I am getting old, as I am a very optimistic individual, and it’s not easy for me to lose hope in something, like I lost hope in my home country. My hope in the WordPress community was beginning to fade, and I was almost going to cancel my trip to Basel. Glad I didn’t, I have Birgit to thank for that. Birgit, I appreciate you 1000 times over 🫶🏽.
In a way, I will say my hope in the WordPress community was rekindled in Basel. It is usually easy to forget why one does something they are passionate about, and we need reminders from time to time. Being at WordCamp Europe in Basel reminded me why I like giving back to WordPress in any little way I can.

So…

I have some photos saved from the event album, which you can see below. And some others from past WordCamps I saved to my Flickr gallery.

I also got to spend the evening with my awesome Uncle Charles Job, who is doing beautiful, beautiful work in Switzerland ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I cannot end this post without a nice shout-out to Shay’s Kulture Spa in Albania for making me the beautiful braids I had on for my trip to Basel, Switzerland. Love you loads ❤️ and thank you!
The next WordCamp Europe will be taking place in Kraków, Poland. Are you going? Which WordCamp should we meet at next?

Beautiful pictures! And yes, we all need timely reminders on why we do the things we love to do. I’m glad you got to attend the Europe WordCamp – who knows, we might jam in the next one!
PS: That ‘Job’ face is distinct in your uncle’s! lol
